Kostas Bigalis was born in Athens on March 15, 1953. He started his artistic career at the age of 19, when he won a prize in a music competition and signed a contract with the EMI record company.

In 1978 he participated in the modern opera “Utopia” by Mimi Plessas and Costas Virvos. In 1979 he starred in the Greek production of the rock opera “Jesus Christ Superstar”, in the role of the high priest Anna, under the musical instruction of Mimi Plessas and directed by Dimitris Malaveta, who encouraged him to study theater.

In September 1979, he was awarded at the Thessaloniki Song Festival as a composer and lyricist with the song “Me mia kithára(With a guitar)”. In the same year, Kostas Bigalis attended classes at the Drama School of Athens, with George Theodosiadis as a teacher.

In the summer of 1980, he starred in the role of Hermes in the bold musical adaptation “Lucian’s Dialogues”, staged as part of the Athens Festival at the Lycabettus Theater, with music by Mimi Plessas, in a modern rendering of the ancient texts of Lucian by Costas Virvos and directed by Dimitris Malaveta. In the same year he participated in a small role in the Universal television movie “Acts of the Apostles Peter and Paul”, starring Anthony Hopkins.

In 1981 he recorded with producer Louka Sideras, member of the legendary Greek band Aphrodite’s Child, two songs, “Seventh Heaven” and “The amazing Mr. Be” for the American film “The next one” by Nikos Mastorakis.

In 1984 CBS released his first personal album entitled “Big Alice”, with the song “I miss you” becoming the #1 hit of the year in Greece and being released in 18 countries abroad.
In 1989, his first Greek-language album titled “Me ton ílio stous Ichtheís(With the Sun in Pisces)” was released, which went gold.
In 1991, the album “Tou Aigaíou ta Blues(Blues of Aegean See)” followed, which soon went platinum.
In 1993, the album “Mikrí mou mélissa(My Little Bee)” was released, which went double platinum.
In 1994 the album “Mousikó taxídi(Musical trip)” went gold, while in the same year Bigalis participated with the song “Trehandiri” and the group Sea Lovers in the Eurovision contest.

In 2005, Kostas Bigali’s song “The Light In Our Soul” performed by the singer Elena Paparizou became a No. 1 hit in Greece and in September 2005 it reached No. 3 in the Swedish single charts.

From 2008 until today he has been collaborating with Australian music producer and guitarist Mark Moffat in Nashville, USA, writing songs for artists in the field of contemporary country music.

In December 2011, his most recent Greek album titled “Zíse(Live)” was released.

Kostas Bigalis
