Michael E. Marakomichelakis comes from Tympaki, Heraklion, Crete. The first musical instrument he came into contact with was the Cretan lyre. At the age of twelve, he enrolled in the classical guitar school at the Hellenic conservatory, where he simultaneously studied European and Byzantine music theory. From the public music education, he has obtained a university degree in music studies (Greek traditional music) as well as two postgraduate degrees specializing in kaval (Balkan wind instruments) and in Orchestra and Choir Conducting. From the private music education (conservatory) he has obtained the Degrees in Odic, Orchestration, as well as the higher theoretic Fugue-fuge and Diploma in Byzantine Music.
Since the age of 16, he has been professionally involved in music and in particular with Cretan traditional music and has participated in many discographies of various artists as well as his own. He has collaborated with the greatest exponents of Cretan music. Since 2000 he has been working as a music teacher in public education. of the world”. In the same year, he creates the Ensemble of Nights & Archers of Crete, which he leads as artistic director and conductor. In 2015 he creates and presents the Music and Dance Group 8hto. In 2016, he took over the artistic direction of the Maestro Music School in his hometown, while staffing and directing the Maestro Tympakiou Mixed Choir. Finally, since 2017, he has taken over the organization and management of the Children and Youth Choir of Malevizi Municipality.
He has written the books with the titles: Mandolin Method, Favorite Melodies of Crete, The Journey of Music. The first guitar book, Easy Melodies, The Cretan Lyra.
