Glykeria is a Greek singer. She is considered one of the most important and popular performers of Greek song. According to the “Catalogue of the Greek Discography” she is one of the most commercial Greek singers (after Haris Alexiou and Anna Vissi).

Her family has roots from Halicarnassus in Asia Minor. Her mother was originally from Crete. Glykeria was born in the village of Agio Pneuma Serres on November 16, 1953. From a very young age she received musical stimuli from Asia Minor songs and rebetiko from her family, with the result that singing took root in her at a very young age. Her father and uncle were amateur bouzouki players.

She appeared for the first time in 1974 on the TV show “Na i Efkairia”, while her first appearance on the Greek music scene was the same year at the Lito tavern in Plaka.
