Tolis (Apostolos) Voskopoulos (Kokkinia, Piraeus, July 26, 1940 – Athens, July 19, 2021), was a Greek singer, composer, lyricist and actor.

He met enormous artistic acceptance, earning the nickname “Prince”, while he is widely regarded as one of the most important singers ever to grace Greek song and as one of the greatest Greek performers of all time.

He was born in the Kokkinia district of Piraeus, to Asia Minor parents and grew up in Korydallos. He was the twelfth child of the Voskopoulos family and had 11 sisters. He is the brother of actor Gary Voskopoulos. He made his debut in the theater in 1958, at the age of 18, directed by Thanos Traga, and five years later, in 1963, he made his debut in cinema. He entered the discography with the song Vima-vima by the music composer Lykourgos Markeas. His establishment in the pentagram came with the song Agonia in the year 1968 (composed by Giorgos Zambetas), which in a very short period of time exceeded 300,000 sales, an elusive number for that time.

He had a very wide range of collaborations, performing songs by Giorgos Zambetas, Mimi Plessas, Akis Panos, Thanasis Polykandriotis, Marios Tokas, Yiannis Parios, Giorgos Katsaros, Kostas Virvos, Sotias Tsotou, Phoebus and many others.

His collaboration with Stratos Dionysiou was important. In fact, when the two artists were singing in Thessaloniki, one afternoon they decided to go play billiards. The people’s love for the popular idols was so great that within a short time thousands of fans had gathered outside the cafe, as a result of which the assistance of the police was needed in order to be able to leave the store.

For more than 30 years, all his appearances were “pre-sold”, with hit songs such as: The moon is above me, And you will go away, You resurrected my heart (The knife hurt sweetly), I love one, Something like this , Men don’t talk much, Like the flower of the gardenia, Two hearts, Let’s go to her health, My brothers, tramps, birds, Unrepeatable, Before our dream is lost, Next year on a day like this, Me and you, I’ll cut for you at two o’clock in the night, Fleas in my ears, Love needs imagination, Life owes me a love, Endless journey, Moon eyes and many more.

In 2000 he was awarded by the POP CORN (later Arion) awards for his overall contribution to Greek singing.

In 2011, after a three-year absence from the Athenian night, he accepted the proposal of Antonis Remos and appeared with him at the Diogenes music scene in Athens, a figure that became a point of reference that year.
